The World of Faeries Festival

I saw an ad in the paper for this event and since the kids were over for the day, we decided to see what it was all about.  Ethan and grampa participated in a pirate scavenger hunt while Emily and I checked out all the booths.  She wanted her face painted and I bought her a pair of fairy wings.  Everyone was wearing them!  Well, not everyone.  Some people were dressed as pirates and others as all sorts of fantasy characters like wood elves and gypsies and pixies.

Human statue.  She stood perfectly still and occasionally moved ever so slightly so you knew it was a person.  Emily was afraid to approach her, but Ethan shook her hand when it was offered.

Streamwood Parade - Part 2

Mick's football team (the Streamwood Falcons) marched in the Streamwood Hometown Festival Parade yesterday.  Ann marched, too, as one of the team moms but I didn't get a picture of her from the front!  I couldn't find her fast enough in the crowd.  There were a LOT of kids.

Playing horsehoes with Gramma

Ethan and Emily spent a day with Gramma last week (Grampa was working).  After the kids made pancakes for breakfast, they wanted to go play horseshoes.  Ethan uses rubber horseshoes; gramma uses metal ones.  Ethan even got a ringer!  Later that day, we went to the movies and it turned out to be a fun day.

A Day in the City with Emmit & Lisa - Part 3

On the tall ship "Windy", a pirate ship out of Navy Pier.

A picture taken from the ship of Navy Pier. We almost convinced Emmit to go on the Ferris Wheel, but by the time the ship got back to the dock, the line was too long.
